Sadolin Paints (EA) Limited was established in Kenya since 1959 as a subsidiary of Sadolin and Holmblad of Denmark.
In 1980’s Sadolin Denmark became part of the Akzo Nobel Coatings the world’s number one Paints & Coatings Company, which then decided to divest their interest in East Africa in 1991. Akzo Nobel signed a long term Technical and Trademark Agreement with the new local owners of Sadolin Paints (EA) Limited to provide it with technical support.

Ltd (SPEAL) under the dynamic leadership of the current Managing Director Mr. Salim Alibhai is now one of the most respected paint manufacturing companies and the undisputed market leader in the highly quality conscious Automotive segment of the paint industry. Sadolin has a well-developed countrywide network of distributors & along with Sadolin Tanzania & Sadolin Uganda is the largest paint brand in East Africa region.
The past decade has seen SPEAL build a sound business reputation both in the decorative as well as the industrial paint market whilst strengthening its leadership in the automotive segment. It was the first company to receive ISO 9002 certification in the year 2000 and ISO 9001 in November 2003.
SPEAL probably has the most comprehensive product portfolio in the entire country and includes Automotive refinishes (including Octoral Metallic tinted finishes from the latest computerized colour tinting technology from Holland) Decorative & Architectural products, General Purpose Industrial coatings, High Performance Coatings of Ameron as well as Powder Coatings.
SPEAL by virtue of being a licensee of Sadolin Denmark has access to international technology par excellence. In addition to this with distribution tie ups with world leaders like Octoral of Holland, Ameron of USA and Interpon of South Africa SPEAL is truly a representative of world class products being sold in the Kenyan market.
The Decorative range includes both Water and Oil based paints, Undercoats, Thinners, Spirits, Sadotex wall finishes, Weatherguard, Exterior wall finishes and Multicolor decorative finishes. Additionally the range also consists of Wood finishes that protect wood from parasites and fungi whilst maintaining a large choice of finishes. These include the Pinotex range of wood finishes, quality wood furniture finishes and a wide range of clear and pigmented varnishes. The offerings are complete with a range of pigmented varnishes.
In regard to the range of industrial products there are Roller & Coil Coatings, Stoving enamels, & Drum enamels for the packaging industry. In addition, the basket of products also includes body fillers, sanding sealers, spot putty and grey primers for the automotive industry and a range of adhesives for wood, parquet, ceramic tiles and for carton sealing.
SPEAL, with its team of dedicated of well-qualified & trained professionals (there are regular trainings provided by experts from Sadolin Denmark in Kenya as well as people sent abroad) in various functions practices environmentally friendly processes in its day-to-day operations.
